YAOC Winter Retreat – That’s A Wrap!

The 2014 Young Adult Winter Retreat at Schroon Lake this past weekend was such a great time!  Pastor Justin Schoonmaker, from Williamsburg, VA, was our guest speaker and ministered truth in four sessions.  We all had a blast spending the weekend together and participating in the various snow activities.

Christian Artist, Or Artist Who Is Christian?

For those of us going along with the Resurgence study on Saturday & Monday nights, here is an article (Huff Post) entitled, “This Is What Happens When Hip-Hop Lets the Saints In by Jon Ward.  The article focuses on the artist Lecrae, and his experience as a Christian on a mission to use his art to reach the secular culture, all while dealing with his critics from Christian subculture. This is a good read along with the discussion of “Christendom” from back in Chapter 1, “Christendom Is Dead:  Welcome to the United States of Seattle.

An excerpt from the article:
“…And so it is with modern evangelical Christianity; Almost by necessity, because it is no longer the majority view, evangelicalism has become more sophisticated in its understanding of the way faith interacts with the world outside the walls of church. Yet at the same time, it is still grappling with a loud minority who are the offspring of decades of bifurcated thinking.
